About Ballykisteen

The Ballykisteen Championship Golf course is a superb 18 hole, 72 par, Des Smyth designed championship golf course which was opened in 1993 and was formerly the famous Ballykisteen Stud.

Nestled in the heart of the Golden Vale

The clever design and suitability to all handicaps makes this golf hotel and Ballykisteen golf course an ideal venue for any golf outing. The golf course is set only minutes from Limerick Junction, County Tipperary in tree-sculptured surroundings against a backdrop of the Galtee Mountains. The golf course is constructed to the highest of standards distinguished by the superb quality of the putting surfaces. Smyth laid out each hole using the natural contours of the land where possible and incorporated an abundance of bunkers and water hazards which feature on 11 holes. Symth himself puts forward the 6th as one of the signature holes at Ballykisteen "probably the most difficult in the country; 230 yards from the back elevated tee to a green surrounded by water on three sides and out of bounds on the left, nothing but a perfect golf shot will do".

Message from PRO David Rock

With the next phase of restrictions due to be lifted on Monday golf will tart returning to some form of normality. From Monday the 10th of May the inter county travel restriction will be lifted and we can now play golf in 4 balls with no restrictions on numbers of households allowed play in one group. We are still advising that we all use our common sense and maintain social distancing where possible as although restrictions are easing we have to be very mindful of covid-19.

We would also like to welcome the 65 new members who have joined in the last month or so and hope that they enjoy their time as members of Ballykisteen Golf Club. We currently stand at 370 members but with more still waiting to renew and the ongoing intake of new members we are looking at having upwards of 400 members when al is said and done. This is an incredible achievement and is testimony to the hard work that goes on behind the scenes by our voluntary committee members and staff here at the club. The future looks bright for Ballykisteen GC.

With more and more people coming to play members are reminded that they can bring guests to play for €15 midweek and €20 weekends. Booking can also be made now for anyone who is involved in societies or fundraising golf days here at the club just contact the pro shop to book.

Finally over the coming weeks we are expecting delivery of our new range ball dispenser. The new dispenser will have an RFID card system which will allow you to top up and get discounted rates for golf balls eliminating the need for a coin slot on the machine. We will then move the new machine back down to the range to make it more convenient for those using the range. Our new bag tags will arrive here early next week and can be collected from the pro shop. Please find an image of the new tags attached to this e-mail. This new bag tag represents the birth of the member run Ballykisteen GC and will look fantastic attached to your golf bag for the coming years.

The pro shop is gradually starting to fill up at the moment its been a slow process because of covid-19 restrictions and Brexit making it hard to get stock from the suppliers. Going forward we will have Calvin Klein and Ping and Island Green clothing with hardware from Callaway Golf and Ping Golf initially with the addition of one or two more in near future. We will have Skechers shoes and Footjoy shoes in stock and also Callaway/Wilson and Titleist golf balls and accessories. Lessons will be available also from Monday on at a cost of €30 per half hour or you can buy 4 for the price of 3 at €90. To book just call or pop into the pro shop.

Finally if anyone has any questions or if you need anything at all please feel free to send an e-mail to infobkgc@gmail.com or call the pro shop.

We look forward to competitions re-starting and seeing you all out on the beautiful green fairways very soon.
